Carnival Booth Add $5 per person

Treat your guests to a hands on fun filled experience at the San Mateo County Event Center.  We have carnival booth activities; price is for one booth includes game, staff and prizes.

Bungee Run Add $8 per person

Enjoy the exhilaration of the bungee experience­ horizontally. Wearing harnesses attached to thick bungee cords, two participants run down 35-foot long inflatable runways, stretching the cords as far as they can before being hurled back to the starting point. Sides and floor of the runways are deep and bouncy for full protection. Each contestant places a marker on a strip to show the farthest point they reached before the inevitable slingshot effect took over.
Obstacle Course 3 mod Add $10 per person

Fun to play and hilarious to watch.  Two players try to navigate through tube tunnels, over walls, up ramps, and around inflated barriers and giant rings.  This game can accommodate many players per hour and is available in two-module or three-module lengths.

Slide-Inflatable 26 Enormous Add $13 per person
Slightly smaller 2-story cousin of the Colossal Inflatable Slide. Great if space is a concern. Both of these slides can also be excellent for team-building events when combined with specialized games and contests.

Charity Challenge: Rocking Horses for Tots Add $75 per person

Get in the giving spirit as Team Building Unlimited leads you in a Rocking Horse Building & Painting team-building event! This is a great way to bring your team together while providing comfort to less fortunate children. Participants will receive Rocking Horse parts, glue, tools, brushes, paint and more.

Teams of 3-4 will assemble and paint the rocking horses. Teams will decide on theme for their horses, as well as decorating (painting) and assembling. Could be a Zebra, a Rainbow, your company Logo? Your choice!  Once the Rocking Horses are completed, they are presented to local organization: Shelters, Police, Fire,Hospitals or another charity.

Corporate Grand Prix Add $59 per person

Teams design and build a Race Cart from identical building materials utilizing PVC Pipe, Connectors, Wheels, Saws, Knives, Markers, assorted Steering Devices, Parts and more. In addition, each team will design a T-shirt that their “racecar” driver will wear during the race. Team members have an equal opportunity to showcase skills and creativity. Integrated into this activity will be client objectives: managing change; managing resistance to change; what does change mean for an individual?  how do teams deal with it individually and organizationally? How does a team deal with adverse situations when they do not “like” the change? Why is communication key to change? Upon completion, team racecars will compete against each other in a less than straight course (remember the racecars do not have motors and maneuverability will depend on the skill of selected team driver and ‘pushers’ as well as construction of vehicle). Prizes will be awarded for the team with the most creative racecar design, the new corporate T-shirt, and the team that actually wins the race. Prizes provided.

Wacky Mini-Olympics Game Add $45 per person

A SERIES OF WACKY GAMES AS TEAMBUILDING ACTIVITY. As in the Olympics, not every team member participates in every activity. Many activities are performed at same time. Team captains will select several individuals to compete in each event.  When team members aren’t participating, they’re cheering on their friends! No events are physically challenging, but they’re all FUN! Example of some of the Games; Suitcase Relay, Mummy Wrap, Crab Walk Slalom, Putt for Glory etc.

Green Picnics

The San Mateo County Event Center offers complete Green Picnic Planning. The San Mateo County Event Center is environmentally friendly. Green Picnics are the fastest growing request for companies concerned about the planet. We can all help keep our Earth Green and clean by using Biodegradable Plates, Utensils and Paper Products. We always recycle all bottles, cans and plastics and when it comes to our set up we’re good to the earth too.

We use only:

• Biodegradable Plates, Bowls and Trash Bags

• Biodegradable Forks, Knives and Spoons

• Biodegradable Napkins and Paper Products

• Recycle Bins for Aluminum Cans and Plastics

Banner: Included in the packages is a 8’ “welcome” banner featuring your company’s full-color logo.  EPS file, converted to outlines for producing the welcome banner due 45-days before event.

Excerpts from interview by Jessica Boudevin from Venue’s Today:

Chris Carpenter from San Mateo (Calif.) County Event Center, described the most important Off-Season Business:

“The majority of our business is space rental for public events, trade shows, parties and corporate events,” he said, “I always recommend that people try to rent their facilities first and — if they can’t — try to promote or co-promote.”

“We’ve also done extensive studies on demographics. You can find market data through your local chambers or look at census numbers,” said Carpenter. When San Mateo County Event Center found out that over 80 percent of its target market drive as opposed to using public transportation, they switched to using much more morning-commuter advertising on radio instead of television ads.

San Mateo County Event Center most successful interim event is a food truck gathering, done four times in 2011 and possibly expanding to six events in 2012.   Ovations, the food provider for San Mateo County Event Center, sold beer and wine at the event. The San Mateo County Event Center took on the expense of providing the facility, the security and parking staff…

“The food truck phenomenon is growing fast, and they’re inexpensive events to put on, so it’s definitely something to look into,” Carpenter noted.

• At the annual San Mateo Event Center employee holiday party the staff contributed non-perishable food items for the Second Harvest Food Bank

Jeanavive Janssen, in the San Mateo Event Center sales department is an active volunteer at the Menlo Park VA with “Soldier’s Angels“, and through her involvement also in the Community Outreach committee of Meeting Professionals International local chapter members donated 150 toys for the “Toys for Vet’s” program at the Menlo Park, VA.

San Mateo Event Centers, Ast. General Manager – Dana Stoehr,  SUV loaded down with toys personally delivered them to the VA in Menlo Park on her break.  And, finally Jeanavive went back to the VA on her lunch break on December 20, 2011 -  where the veteran’s got to pick the toys they wanted to give to their children and Jeanavive wrapped them (she admits her wrapping skills; weren’t the best…but a few vets lent a finger while she tore the tape…). These vets are part of in-patient care at the VA and are unable to personally shop for toys or have limited incomes in order to purchase toys for their families.

• Ingrid Nunez in the San Mateo Event Center accounting department, for the past 7-months with the Jubilee Homeless Outreach has gone to Coyote Creek in San Jose to bring homeless clean warm clothes, food, and hygiene supplies.  For Thanksgiving, she participated in stuffing bags with food for 1,000 families. Her son also, volunteered for a Christmas giveaway for those who lost their jobs or simply couldn’t afford anything for the holidays.   Each family got a toy per child or bike and gave them a bag of food…video:

• San Mateo County Event Center, is also happy to have their adopted Unit 297th ASMC return to the states in December after their deployment to Iraq.  With the communities support the center facilitated the collection of monthly care packages started February 2011 and concluded October 2011.

The San Mateo Event Center management team has provided all staff a Camelbak BPA Free water bottle.  Staff, has been asked to use the reusable bottles to cut down on garbage as part of the San Mateo Event Centers ongoing mission to green the venue.  The next step will be to install water filtration systems to replace the delivery of water which will save the venue money after the initial investment.

Because of the scale of our large buildings you do not need to worry about cutting your guest list down.   Invite the cousins and third cousins even!   We can accommodate 300-6,000 people wedding receptions.   The San Mateo Event Center has a wonderful park like setting for outdoor receptions as well…

Have a special theme? great! our spaces are a blank canvas so that you may bring in all your own specialty lighting, decor and we can even accommodate elephants if you are planning a traditional Hindu wedding.

We also have preferred caters that offer authentic ethnic foods from many regions of the world.  Do you have a caterer you would prefer to use? We have a food-buy out option which will allow outside caterers.

Since we are not a hotel, there is no food & beverage minimums or hotel room block requirements…but we do have the Marriott hotel less than a mile away for your out of town guests and we are only 10 minutes away from the San Francisco International Airport.

In October 2011, San Mateo Event Center General Manager – Chris Carpenter,  reported to the Center’s board on the San Mateo Event Center’s efforts to move toward paperless meetings and a reduction in copy machine usage.   He suggested the purchase of iPads to be used by the staff and Board for meetings.  The iPads would be pre-loaded with the meeting materials in order to avoid making unnecessary copies.  All iPads would remain on the San Mateo Event Center’s property when not in use.  The Board concurred with Manager Carpenter on this purchase.  This initial investments will translate into saving in printing costs of 25-100 pages per meeting and the priceless reduction of our natural resources.

San Mateo Event Center is looking ahead to 2012 as a new year in GREEN efforts as they develop a  sustainability plan.

The San Mateo Event Center operations team just purchased a 5,000 gallon barrel to capture rain water.

We annually fill-up barrels to weight down tents and other structures.  Rather than using tap water we will utilize the rain water and than re-use the water for our gardens.  (More Specs Below).

San Mateo Event Center has 48-acres of a park like setting; tree’s, flowers, birds and bee’s – even a little garden that our staff maintains.

SPECS:

Since it’s “reclaimed water” it can’t be used for consumption aka non-potable so it has some limitations but we’ve estimated that we waste over 60,000 gallons a year alone on the water barrels for specific events. When the events returns they will fill their barrels with fresh water (if it hasn’t rained yet) then we will in turn pump that 4,400 gallons of water out of those barrels and into our tank. Their barrels will then be re-filled with reclaimed water from our 600 gallon water trailer as needed.

The tank was purchased on October 3^rd 2011 from Go-To-Plastics and shipped out of Compton Ca.

The initial source will be rain water and barrel water.

The water is collected and distributed using a 600 gallon water trailer fitted with a vacuum pump and is stored in a 5000 gallon storage tank in the maintenance yard.

October 7th, 2011 is the last San Mateo Event Center Food Truck Moveable Feast for the season – it’s like a huge block party on steroids…live music fun and shopping too!  Don’t miss out on this National Craze which was featured in USA Today.
