September 7 – 9 — Hyper-Con: A Celebration of Japanese Anime and Pop Culture

Posted on September 6, 2012

The San Francisco Bay Area region of California is very fertile ground for Anime conventions, Cosplay or otherwise.  Hyper-con is one of   the newest and most exciting additions to the growing list of events in this genre.  Now in its third year, Hyper-con returns to the San Mateo County Event Center with “ambition” as its theme.

Hyper-con was created by artist and businessman, Bordin “Mark” Marsinkul. Marsinkul has cultivated a reputation as an astonishingly fast artist who amazes his customers with the final and wondrous results in mere minutes. Bordin Marsinkul has been a frequent guest at other conventions such as Wonder-Con, Sac-Anime and the Anime-Expo.

Hpyer-con is a celebration of “Japanese Anime and Pop Culture.”  Activities include unique events such as a gathering entitled, “Anime Con of the Dead”. This will be a variation of a Zombie inspired flash mob which will have an Anime influence. Another very unique event will be a stand-up show which promises to became an adult affair (guests will be asked for identification to enter)!  The convention also will include classic events like panel presentations, fashion shows and a masquerade/cosplay contest.  A complete schedule of events for the weekend can be found here:

This is the first year that Hyper-con will be a three-day convention, beginning on Friday, September 7 and ends on Sunday, September 9.  Will you come join us?  RSVP and get more information on our HyperCon Facebook Event Page:
