The 2014 San Mateo County Fair returns June 7 – 15th this year!

The San Mateo County Fair “Where tradition Meets innovation” boasts a stunning variety of world-class musical entertainment, live performances, fun Fair food, local and traditional con- tests, and a “Ferris Wheeling” carnival. The Fair lasts nine days and will be attended by over 130,000 guests.

the San Mateo County Fair consistently wins top awards from the Western Fair association. the Fair is governed by a board of Directors, who work closely with Fair organizers to devel- op new programs and attractions to maintain the highest quality Fair program in the country. With the support of sponsors and hundreds of volunteers and supporters, the event continues to evolve to be world-class each year.

Are you an annual Fairgoer or will this be your first time?  For nine days, spanning our 14-acre property the Fair will feature nationally known bands that include: Air Supply, Brian McKnight, War, and The Marshall Tucker Band.  Evolution – the Ultimate Tribute to Journey, All You Need is Love – a Beatles Tribute Concert, Laser Spectacular featuring the music of Pink Floyd, and Super Diamond round out the free concert line-up.  All concerts begin at 7:30pm in Fiesta Hall.  Check out the San Mateo County Fair Website for all fair-related information and schedules: https://www.sanmateocountyfair.com

Thanks to the communications team at the Fair, up to the minute schedules, information and notifications are closer than ever. Android and iPhone users can get everything they need at the touch of their fingertips with the San Mateo County Fair Mobile App. 

The app shows an entire range of vital information: Fair Schedules (searchable by day and time), Entertainment, Vendors & Sponsors, Food Vendors, Daily Contests, Fair Info, Maps, Media, Social News and even the current weather. Fairgoers can pinpoint their exact itineraries and watch videos showing all of the free family fun in and around the Event Center.

WeCam - Logo - SquareEach day, the Tech Department will be giving away 2 iPod Nanos as part of a social media demonstration!  Special guests, WeCam from Ontario, Canada will be showcasing their new social chat application, WeCam Chat during the Fair.  To enter to win one of the iPods, simply download their free app from the  App Store or Google Play, set up your account and use the tag #SanMateoFair.  Twice a day, the WeCam team will randomly select one new WeCam user who tagged #SanMateoFair to receive the prize.  Expect a WeCam chat -when your phone rings and it’s the WeCam team, come down to the Tech Stage to claim your prize!

season passesEnjoy Fair Admission for just as low as $2.77 per day — Season Pass tickets are only $25!  Take advantage of discounted admission and enjoy all nine days of the Fair, including all concerts!  You can purchase online here, or at our office – 2495 S. Delaware Street in San Mateo.  Our office is open from 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday.   Like the carnival rides?  The All-You-Can-Ride carnival wristbands are $21 before June 6th and $30 after June 6th!

Healthy Fare at the 2013 San Mateo County Fair!

Enjoy Healthy Fare at the Fair. 

We all love the funnel cakes and corndogs, but sometimes we need something healthy inbetween the cotton candy and carnival rides… like fresh ceviche or Greek salad!  In collaboration with the San Mateo County Health System, Family Health Services Division, our food vendors will feature certain menu items that are healthier choices.  Just look for the signs and Healthy Fare logo throughout the fairgrounds where the food vendors are!  Here’s the list of Healthy Fare at the Fair:  https://sanmateocountyfair.com/fair-info/fair-info/food-at-the-fair

SNAP-Ed Projects


The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) federal funds are administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service to support nutri- tion education programs for persons eligible for SNAP. The projects approved for SNAP-Ed aim to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP will make healthy food choices and choose physically active lifestyles.

The San Mateo County Fair was approved to execute their proposed projects for the 2014 Fair season, which includes involvement with nearby schools, local farmers, and exhibits at the annual Fair.We are so excited to feature an Agri-Tourism Booth featuring the top 5 crops grown in San Mateo County, Healthy Cooking Demonstrations by local chefs, and a Healthy Eating Pledge drive to promote healthy eating among fair-goers. Nestled in our Fine Arts Galleria located in Expo Hall, our Literary Stage is the center for readings, writers workshops, author discussions and other freeform expressions of art.  There’s something for everyone here — from kid-friendly book readings to open mic poetry readings.  Come and see what’s on schedule for the Literary Stage and stay to browse through the amazing fine art pieces submitted by local artists.

As a community event, the San Mateo County Fair offers two outdoor stages for locals to showcase their talent.

These stages are programmed with family-friendly performances ranging from gravity-defying acrobatics, heart-pumping, rock and roll, blues bands to stunning, spine-tingling, jazz dancers.

Be entertained throughout the entire day as we fill our stages with various acts from opening to closing of the Fair.  Come experience the amazing talent our community has among us.

pshfPeninsula Sports Hall of Fame Banquet.

10 outstanding athletes from San Mateo County who will be inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony on June 11 in Cypress Hall.  The Hall of Fame honors Peninsulans who have had an impact on the local sports scene and, perhaps, beyond.  During its first 22 years, the Hall of Fame, located at the San Mateo County History Museum in Redwood City, has grown to include more than 220 people.  Presented by the San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, the San Mateo County Event Center and the San Mateo County Times/San Jose Mercury News, the induction dinner coincides with the 2013 San Mateo County Fair. 4H4-H Bake Sale

The wonderful folks from the 4-H Club run a bake sale every day during the Fair.  Located in the Youth Exhibits building, the sale features a large assortment of home-made cakes, cookies and pies.  Water, coffee and cold beverages are also for sale.  All sale proceeds benefit the 4-H Club.  Cafe seating is first-come, first served.

Culinary Demonstrations

In the center of it all, we’ve got the best culinary department in the state.  Baked goods, preserves, wine and beer will be on display throughout the week in addition to the open judging contests.  Also, catch one of the healthy cooking chef demonstrations!   This year, we are featuring the top 5 crops grown in San Mateo County:  artichokes, leeks, Brussels sprouts, English Peas and fava beans!  The complete schedule for chefs demos is HERE!

Digital Monkey School free game development workshops for kids 2013 San Mateo County FairFree Game Development Workshops for Kids by Digital Monkey.

Taught by Greg and Ola, founders of Digital Monkey School, Introduction to Game Development Class is a wonderful opportunity for students of all levels to get introcued to the art of computer games and to discover how they are made.  Students will learn how to model and paint teractive objects (custom prop sets) and custom terrain (blocks that the world is made of), and they will create a playable environment of their own (custom levels).  In this workshop, children will use their creativity and imagination, and will develop their three dimensional perception, cognitive skills and fine motor skills.  Students can be introduced to basics of Game Development in only one class or learn more on the subject and work on their project if they come more than once.  For more information, visit   www.digitalmonekyschool.com or check out the event page for the complete class schedule:  https://www.facebook.com/events/137897809740299/

Watch and learn about the graceful art of Japanese flower arranging.  It’s more than simply putting flowers in a container!   ikebana is a disciplined art form in which nature and humanity are brought together.  Ikebana often emphasizes areas of the plant, such as its stems and leaves, and draws emphasis toward shape, line, form.  The demonstration will be on Sunday, June 8 at 2:00pm in the Floral Arts Hall.
