We are very excited to officially launch Creative Touch Catering and Food Services at the San Mateo Event Center! As a full-service food and beverage company, we look forward to offering a dining experience as memorable and unique as your event will be.
The San Mateo County Event Center offers full-service amenities including on-site venue managed catering “Creative Touch Catering and Food Service” – offering local foods and a friendly knowledgeable team who will offer creative menu options.
Let’s Meet the Team!
Lawrence Duncan – Executive Chef Chef Larry is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy. His resume includes an 11 year run as the Sous Chef at The Palace Hotel, and Executive Chef at The Cathedral Hill Hotel. He specializes in corprate dining, fine dining, and banquets. In his free time, Chef Larry coaches football and baseball, and plays golf : “A great Scotsman’s game.”
Paul Curley – Consulting Chef After serving in the military and receiving his culinary AA from Laney College in Oakland, Chef Paul worked his way up from Saucier to Executive Chef at various establishments from the San Francisco to Monterey Bays. Since 1991 he’s been a loyal member and a past President for the west coast chapter of the American Culinary Federation. Chef Paul brings years of experience at the San Mateo Event Center to his consulting position for Creative Touch Catering. He is generous enough to share his time with us when he is not traveling the world with his wife and three sons.
Robert Carney – Food and Beverage Manager Robert has been in the hospitality business for over 20 years. He started his career as a restaurateur in Carson City Nevada, with a haunted Victorian Mansion built in 1876. After moving to the Bay Area, he served as the AGM and AKM for Buca di Beppo. Robert has spent the last 12 years as Director of Food & Beverage with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. In Robert’s free time he loves to travel, and has been all over the world. Some of his favorite places to visit are Israel, Egypt, China, London, Boston and Lake Tahoe. He enjoys reading and being with his family, and would love to show you pictures of his 135lb Rottweiler, Wembley.
Colby Aymar – Catering Sales and Supervisor Born and raised in the South Bay, Colby recently returned from a 7-year stay in Los Angeles. There, she developed her career in sales and event coordination, most recently working at a venue in Santa Monica with a focus on weddings. She is excited to help launch Creative Touch Catering, and hopes to bring more social events to the San Mateo Event Center. When Colby is not in the catering office, she is crafting, cooking, and visiting Disneyland as often as possible.
Nick Cukar – Accounting Assistant A Peninsula native, Nick majored in Kinesiology, emphasis in Sport Management, at San Jose State University, while playing soccer as a Division 1 Scholar-Athlete. After graduating in 2011, he began working for a start-up minor league hockey team in San Francisco, and was the first employee hired in the organization’s history. At the time of his departure in October 2013, he served as Director of Finance and was overseeing the day-to-day finances. Nick is excited to work at the San Mateo County Event Center, and to be on the front line in starting up Creative Touch Catering. He is looking forward to improving the quality and efficiency of the Catering & Food Service at the San Mateo County Event Center.

The San Mateo County Event Center is a 48-acre special event facility with seven indoor buildings and outdoor event space and is home of “Creative Touch Catering and Food Services”.
The San Mateo County Event Center hosts hundreds of events each year including trade/consumer shows, product launches, ride & drives, concerts, social gatherings, weddings, corporate meetings, outdoor picnics and festivals. We have space for 16 people board meetings to 50,000 people festivals.
The San Mateo County Event Center is the most flexible event venue in the Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula; conveniently located 20 minutes from all major metro areas (including San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco). The San Francisco International airport (SFO) is 10 minutes away, plus easy freeway access to San Jose and Oakland Airports. Public Transit drop-off’s at San Mateo County Event Center and 10 minutes’ from the Cal-train station.
